Job Summary

Candour Talent is recruiting a Test Development Engineer for their client based in Newport.

Employment Type:

Permanent/Full Time

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday

The Role
  • Develop and maintain automated and manual test procedures for electronic equipment and assemblies.
  • Design and commission test fixtures, hardware, and software for in‑circuit, functional, and system‑level testing.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure testability and manufacturability of products.
  • Analyse test data, identify failure trends, and drive corrective actions to improve product quality.
  • Support the introduction of new products by creating and validating test solutions aligned with customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support and training to production test technicians and engineers.
  • Maintain documentation for test procedures, equipment, and results.
Ideal Candidate
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in developing test solutions for electronic assemblies, ideally in a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in test software development (e.g., LabVIEW, Test Stand, Python, C/C++).
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits, PCB design, and fault‑finding techniques.
  • Hands‑on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Experience and Expertise
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and fixture design.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc.).
  • Knowledge of EMC, safety, and regulatory compliance testing.
  • Previous experience working with sub‑contract manufacturers or in a high‑mix, low‑volume environment.
