Job Overview
Fixed term / secondment until 31 March 2027 due to funding. Must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying. Lead, inspire and shape community health and wellbeing in Gwynedd and Anglesey as the Public Health Dietetic Team Lead (Band
7) – West Area. Operationalise public health nutrition programmes across the rural and coastal communities of North West Wales.
- Provide line management, professional supervision, and operational support to the West area Public Health dietetic team.
- Collaborate with health professionals, local authorities, childcare sector, education providers and third‑sector groups across Gwynedd and Anglesey.
- Oversee the regional delivery of accredited nutrition courses using a sustainable "train‑the‑trainer" approach, building capacity in the community workforce.
- Target health inequalities by shaping and driving local initiatives that support the Healthy Weight:
Healthy Wales strategy. - Deliver highly specialist dietetic care to individuals and groups through a range of education approaches, supporting management of stakeholders to build capacity in the community.
- Act as an integral member of and in partnership with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the health board, including social care, local authorities, education and the third sector.
- Support the Service Lead for Public Health dietetics and act as delegate for nutrition and dietetic staff ensuring consistent evidence‑based standards of care.
Qualifications
- State registered Dietitian (HCPC)
- Recognised qualification degree or equivalent in dietetics
- Accredited postgraduate study relevant to clinical area at masters level or equivalent
- Clinical supervisory skills training
Experience
- Broad, well‑established dietetic practice
- Significant experience of dietetic delivery in the field of diabetes
- Experience of team leadership and delegation to qualified or non‑qualified staff
- Experience in project management (desirable)
- Experience in leading service development / improvement (desirable)
- Line management (desirable)
Skills
- Proven, well‑developed communication skills at a variety of levels
- Effective caseload management and prioritisation skills
- Team player and team leader
- Welsh language (desirable)
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential. Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Applications may be submitted in Welsh; applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
