Job Overview
We are advertising a permanent, full‑time Senior Clinical Psychology post in our child neurodevelopment service for suitably skilled and experienced applicants. The role is open to Band 7 candidates with a supportive development plan towards a senior 8a position.
The post‑holder will be a valued member of a diverse and vibrant multidisciplinary team based in Caernarfon, providing highly specialised neuro‑developmental assessments and advice for children, young people and their families across Gwynedd and Anglesey. They will lead assessments, collaborate closely with the team, and exercise clinical leadership.
Main Duties of the JobWe seek an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who demonstrates a passion for this area and a commitment to clinical quality, evidence‑based practice and high professional standards. The successful candidate will have a tailored, supportive development plan to progress to an 8a role and will receive clinical and professional supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist.
- Lead neuro‑developmental and neuropsychological assessments as required.
- Support the wider team and promote psychological thinking and formulation within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide consultation to multi‑agency professionals and families.
- Offer clinical supervision and provide placements for trainee clinical psychologists.
- Apply clinical leadership skills through training and service development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not required;
Welsh and English speakers are equally welcome.

Person Specification QualificationsEssential Criteria
- Honours Degree in Psychology.
- Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Post‑graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology, accredited by the BPS.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Pre‑qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training or other fields of applied psychology.
Essential Criteria
- Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist, normally including significant post‑qualification experience within the designated specialty where the post is located, or relevant transferable skills.
- Demonstration of further specialist training or experience through extensive clinical supervision of a clinical psychologist, or an alternative agreed by the Head of Clinical Psychology Services.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
