The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are at the heart of Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri and a major tourist attraction in North Wales. Our offer, aimed firmly at the tourism market place, stands out as being best in class. We operate trains daily from late March to the end of October. We are looking for a number of people to work on our trains on the Welsh Highland Railway.
Benefits- National Living / Minimum Wage for age
- Seasonal contract from Monday 23rd March 2026 to Saturday 31st October 2026, with the possibility of extension to the start of January 2027
- Flexible shifts to suit candidate: minimum 2 days per week, maximum 5 days per week, weekdays and weekends; or weekends and school holidays

- Check-in customers at Caernarfon station
- Greet passengers on the train
- Provide information and tell factual stories about the railways
- Sell guidebooks
- Provide at‑seat trolley refreshment service
- Assist with the provision of our luxury service in Gold class
These positions will be based at Dinas, near Caernarfon, however team members may be asked to work from Porthmadog or other starting points on either Welsh Highland Railway or Ffestiniog Railway services on occasion.
Core Skills- ‘Front of House’ position so a cheerful and helpful disposition is essential
- Must be presentable and approachable at all times
- Smart appearance following dress code
- Able to communicate information in a clear and friendly manner
- Pro‑active and able to work on own initiative
- Must be numerate, literate and have basic computer skills
This is a predominantly Welsh speaking area and the Company operates a bilingual policy. The ability to converse in Welsh is therefore desirable for these posts. Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is required for this position, knowledge of Caernarfon and the surrounding area would be an advantage.
Candidates must be flexible and able to work weekdays and weekends. Hours of work will vary and may be tailored to suit the candidate, with up to 40 hours per week available during the busy summer season.
