The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Newport office. This is a pivotal position for someone who knows reinforced concrete (RC) frames and structures inside out and enjoys working closely with operational teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tendering & Estimating:
Liaise with Pre‑Construction and Construction teams to build and review competitive tenders.
  • Evaluate tender information and develop robust bid/procurement strategies.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQs) and take‑offs; produce clear pricing and allowances.
  • Procurement & Commercial Control:
Obtain quotes and manage procurement of materials, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and deliver Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) to senior management.
  • Lead project cost control from contract award through to final account.
  • Contracts & Compliance:
Work confidently with NEC and JCT forms of contract.
  • Address contractual and legal matters proactively during project delivery.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
Maintain regular client liaison to protect margins and secure future work.
  • Collaborate effectively with planners, engineers, and site teams to drive outcomes.
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years' experience as a QS in construction, with strong exposure to RC frames and Civils structures.
  • Proven estimating capability and hands‑on commercial management on contractor‑side projects.
  • A proactive person who acts pre-emptively to manage risk and opportunity.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and reporting skills (CVR, forecasting, change control).
  • Clear written and verbal communication; organized and methodical approach.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude aligned to safe, efficient delivery.
