Description

The person appointed would be expected to:
  • To be responsible for up to 9 Tutor Groups per annum
  • To register these Tutor Groups on time and accurately
  • To support tutees within these Tutor Groups to achieve their full potential
  • To track and monitor the academic progress of tutees against their minimum expected grades, to identify those at risk of under-achievement, and to initiate timely intervention to ensure that they stay on track to achieve their minimum expected grades or better
  • To monitor tutee attendance and punctuality and, where there are concerns, to initiate timely intervention to ensure that they attend well
  • To monitor tutee personal conduct and, where there are concerns, to initiate timely intervention to ensure that they behave well and in accordance with the Mission and Catholic Ethos of the College
  • To monitor tutee welfare and well-being and, where there are concerns, to initiate timely intervention to ensure that they enjoy good health and well-being whilst  concerns emerge which are of a safeguarding nature, to refer to the safeguarding team following the College's safeguarding procedures
  • To maintain accurate student records on Cedar
  • To be responsible for Stage 2 (Level 1 Contract) of the College's Disciplinary Policy and Procedures
  • To refer to Stage 3 (Level 2 Contract) and Pastoral Directors as appropriate
  • To deliver the group tutorials within the College's 10:10 general tutorial programme
  • To participate in the successful delivery of the Year 12 Careers and Higher Education programme including HE Week and the Careers Fair
  • To provide at least three 1:1 interview with each tutee during the year to monitor attendance, punctuality, progress, progression, and personal conduct and well-being
  • In 1:1s to support tutees with career planning and for life beyond Carmel College. To aid this by becoming an expert user of UNIFROG
  • To ensure tutees have access to appropriate careers advice and guidance for any proposed in-year change of course or decision to leave College
  • To support tutees with their UCAS applications, including checking Personal Statements, and to write their UCAS references as required
  • To provide job references for tutees as required
  • To support the Year 12 and Year 13 Pastoral Directors with resources for the 10:10 general tutorial programme as required
  • To support wider College activity and events as required, such as Open Evenings and Guidance Evenings, Parents' Welcome. The expectation is that PATs would attend 3 wider College activities/events per annum
  • To participate fully in the College's quality assurance of 10:10 general tutorial programme
  • To participate fully in the College's performance management process and to set appropriate targets for development
  • To participate in training and development as required for the role and to comply with the statutory duties of the College, for example, Equality and Diversity training
  • To provide short term cover for other Personal Achievement Tutors within the team if required
  • To attend meetings and complete mandatory training in accordance with the college's meeting/training schedule
  • To assist at the college's Open Evening / Consultation Evenings
  • Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and persons who may be affected by their omissions at work
  • To undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require
Contract and Salary Information
  • Closing date: 12 noon on Friday 5th June 2026, we reserve the right to close this vacancy early
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Contract: Established, 36 hours per week, term time only
  • Salary: Point 15 to 17 - £32,199 to £34,253 per annum (payable £25,883.04 to £27,534.14 per annum depending on experience)
