About us

Newbridge School is a welcoming school of approximately 1000 pupils, with high standards of pupil achievement, teaching, and behaviour. The school is based just above Newport, with strong transport routes from the M4, Newport, Cardiff and the South Wales Valleys. All in the school community want to succeed, with strong parental support for the school and pupils who want to learn.

A cornerstone of the school is a bespoke professional learning programme to help all staff develop in their careers. In 2024 we had a very positive Estyn inspection which highlighted:

  • The very good behaviour of pupils across the school
  • Positive, supportive relationships between teachers and pupils
  • Our strong professional learning programme which is tailored carefully to staff's individual needs
  • The high expectations of everyone in the school

The Welsh department is a supportive and committed team, working hard to improve the outcomes for Welsh for our pupils and the use of Welsh across the school. Teachers deliver a stimulating and highly-engaging curriculum which pupils value, with high-quality teaching and learning being a priority. Applications from candidates wishing to offer opportunities for enrichment outside of the classroom will be welcomed, with current successful options including Llangrannog trips and our popular Criw Cymraeg.

The successful applicant will have drive, enthusiasm, and a passion for the language, and be determined to inspire and motivate pupils at all levels. You will be supported by an enthusiastic and welcoming team, with excellent opportunities for professional development both within the department and across the school.

This is a main scale teaching post, appropriate for NQTs as well as experienced teachers.
