Position: Best Interest Assessor

Best Interest Assessor (BIA) | Inside IR35 | Paid Per Assessment | Hybrid Working

This well-regarded local authority is known for valuing and retaining experienced interim staff, offering a stable and supportive working environment. With consistent workflow and a minimum 6-month engagement, you can focus on delivering thorough, person-centred assessments without the uncertainty often associated with short-term contracts.

You’ll work alongside dedicated practitioners and partner agencies to uphold the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and ensure individuals’ rights and freedoms are protected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Best Interests Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
  • Complete high-quality, legally robust reports within agreed timescales.
  • Work closely with individuals, families, care providers, and professionals to ensure person-centred decision-making.
  • Liaise with partner agencies to coordinate comprehensive and lawful care planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings in line with local authority standards.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (or relevant professional qualification eligible to practice as a BIA).
  • Accredited Best Interest Assessor.
  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and relevant case law.
