About the Department/College
Northern Arizona Univesity’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offer a Master of Science degree in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology through a competitive full-time or part-time (Summer Track) program. The Summer Track program includes cohorts of students at both the Flagstaff Mountain campus and the NAU Yuma campus. We also offer an undergraduate degree to prepare students for graduate work in speech-language pathology and audiology, as well as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certificate program.
In addition, the department operates the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at the Flagstaff Mountain campus, where members of the community can receive services for a variety of communication and hearing disorders, and graduate students participate and learn. Graduate students participate in clinical practicum and externship experiences in a variety of settings throughout the region, state, and nation.
The Department is housed in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). The College of Health and Human Services is Northern Arizona’s hub for inclusive and equitable health and wellness education. The College has programs available in Flagstaff and online, including the 30-acre Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) in the heart of Downtown Phoenix, where NAU, UA, and ASU are co-located.
The PBC offers more than six million square feet of research, academic, and clinical facilities for students earning advanced degrees in medical professions with access to innovative technology. The urban environment presents numerous opportunities for interprofessional education with other NAU programs on campus, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, the Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies program, and the Master’s in Athletic Training program.
We prepare high-quality professionals to lend a healing hand. In addition to Communication Sciences and Disorders, CHHS has programs in Athletic Training, Dental Hygiene, Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Physical Therapy.
