Location: Hereford with the flex to cover Worcester and South Wales
Hours: Full Time 44 hours per week (Mon-Fri) across 39 weeks.
Are you a passionate Speech and Language Therapist looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people with complex communication needs?
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team, supporting learners with complex physical disabilities, learning disabilities and communication needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your specialist skills within a highly collaborative environment, working alongside therapy, education, residential and healthcare professionals to deliver life-changing outcomes for learners.
About the RoleAs a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate specialist therapy programmes for learners with complex communication needs.
- Manage your own caseload and support learners to achieve meaningful communication outcomes.
- Complete complex assessments, including pre-college assessments and dysphagia assessments where appropriately qualified.
- Design and oversee programmes delivered by Therapy Assistants and other colleagues across the organisation.
- Provide supervision and support to Speech & Language Therapists and Speech & Language Therapy Assistants.
- Contribute to annual reviews, reports, capacity assessments and multidisciplinary planning processes.
- Deliver training, coaching and communication strategies to staff and key communication partners.
- Promote a Total Communication approach and help embed communication support throughout the learner's daily life.
We're looking for a motivated professional who is committed to delivering outstanding, person-centred care and support.
- Degree qualification recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Current HCPC registration and licence to practise.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a relevant clinical field.
- Experience of managing a caseload and working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based assessment and intervention approaches. [
- Experience training, supporting or supervising others.
- Experience with in specialist education or residential settings.
- Experience working with learners with PMLD, ASD, AAC or acquired brain injury.
- Dysphagia qualification and assessment experience.
- Knowledge of Makaton, Signalong, BSL, Intensive Interaction or AAC systems such as Grid 3, Boardmaker or Widgit.
