The BD team at Heaviside is responsible for identifying, shaping, and capturing new opportunities across Europe and expanding the footprint of our advanced systems. We rely on BD to deeply understand end‑users, their mission environments, and the gaps in current solutions—and to translate those insights into opportunities for Heaviside to deliver meaningful operational advantage.

This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical fluency, relationship‑building, and comfort operating in an agile, fast‑moving startup environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Growth & Capture New Opportunities – Identify and pursue new programs, partners, and customers across Europe. Build a deep understanding of mission needs and how Heaviside’s technology can solve real operational problems.
  • Strengthen Customer Relationships – Work closely with engineering and operations teams to support current deployments and expand contracts. You’ll be the trusted face of Heaviside for many of our European clients.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships – Develop relationships with integrators, distribution partners, defense primes, and research organizations in the UK, Norway, and EU. Help shape our expansion across the continent.
  • Represent Heaviside Across the Ecosystem – Communicate our mission and technical advantages to government stakeholders, military users, partners, and industry audiences.
  • Shape the Product Roadmap – Bring critical field insights back to the engineering team. Your understanding of user needs, pain points, and mission outcomes will directly inform product direction.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in business development with focus in the EMRA region.
  • Knowledge of EMEA regulatory landscape.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances in the UK or EU (e.g., UK SC or equivalent).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% across the UK and European region.
  • Prior defense, national security, or relevant industrial experience.
  • Strong understanding of European procurement frameworks, particularly those related to defense, security, and advanced technology systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain senior‑level client relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with complex technical systems integrating hardware, firmware, RF technologies, and software.
  • Familiarity with government acquisition processes, contract structures, and proposal development across the UK and European defense sectors.
  • Experience managing or supporting technical government programs or field deployments.
  • STEM degree or equivalent technical background enabling effective communication with engineering teams.
  • Experience working in or with early‑stage, high‑growth technology companies.
Security Requirements
  • Must be eligible for security clearance.
  • Background check required.
  • Understanding of data rights and intellectual property protection.
