What We Do

The Employment department deals with all aspects of employment law which is predominantly focussed on litigation and some elements of advisory work for both employees and employers. The day‑to‑day work includes advising on unfair dismissal claims, discrimination and whistle blowing. We act for employees and employers during the litigation process and also provide advisory HR services, such as advising on employee handbooks and drafting employment contracts to support and guide businesses through the complexity of employment law requirements.

Where appropriate, we also deal with our own advocacy. We encourage early responsibility with a real emphasis on creating opportunities to promote our lawyers from within the team, giving you hands‑on experience across a broad range of claims and defences and exposure to employment law and negotiation and settlement tactics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide HR advisory services, including drafting of employment contracts and employee handbooks.
  • Participate in litigation preparation and advocacy for both employees and employers.
  • Manage a caseload and support the career progression path within the team.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent working knowledge of employment law and procedure.
  • The ability to run a caseload.
  • Excellent client care skills.
