DescriptionReporting to the Hogs Haven Senior Agronomy Team, the Assistant Green keepers will directly participate in all aspects of the key phases of the construction, grow-in and long‑term maintenance of Hogs Haven’s golf courses and grounds.
Responsibilities- Construction of USGA greens, bunkers and sand capping on tees, fairways and roughs.
- Extensive drainage and irrigation installation and ongoing assistance with drainage projects.
- Playing surface finishing and pre‑plant application.
- Seeding, turfing and grow‑in establishment.
- Assist with annual seed and turf establishment programmes.
- Assist with cultural practices applied to all playing surfaces.
- Apply pesticide and fertiliser applications under an Integrated Pest Management programme.
- Assist with record‑keeping, data collation and ensure up‑to‑date agronomy data.
- Assist with operation and maintenance of irrigation and pumping systems.
- Monitor construction phases with contractors, consultants, and project management team.
- Maintain and improve putting greens, tees, fairways, practice facilities, roughs and bunkers.
- Ensure golf course conditions meet Hogs Haven expectations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Agronomy Team.
- Consistent history of employment at a Good Greenkeeping level.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Greenkeeping and Sports Turf Management (required).
- PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates (not mandatory).
- Knowledge of golf and turf‑grass management.
- Good working knowledge of golf course operations.
- Excellent time‑keeping and communication skills.
- Highly passionate and motivated to progress in the industry through educational opportunities and continued professional development.
- Experience working within a quality‑oriented organisation.
- The game of golf (knowledge or appreciation).
