This is a great opportunity to develop your career in a hands‑on role where you’ll supervise and carry out the preparation of samples for NIR analysis and NIR scanning and maintain NIR quality control standards. To prepare samples and carry out the analysis by wet chemistry techniques, NIR analysis and carry out NIR scanning.

• Comply with our UKAS ISO 17025:2017 for all accredited methods and procedures and where possible apply those criteria to other non-accredited activities.
• Perform all ‘wet’ chemistry techniques. Preparation and analysis of samples for vitamins (HPLC), mineral analysis (ICP) and enzyme analysis.
• Analysis of all samples by NIR (Raw material , Premix , Feeds and Forages).
• Assist the Laboratory Managers in the effective performance of their duties.
• Organisation of staff resources for sample preparation and NIR analysis. Training and supervision of laboratory technicians in the use of NIRS and associated sample preparation techniques, ensuring correct procedures are adhered to.
• Maintenance of all calibration Quality control, ensure accurate correlation with both internal and external ‘wet’ chemistry techniques.
• Entry of data for dry forage analysis and results requiring manual entry into the LIMS.
• Ensure the sample preparation room, freezer room, Sample store room and NIR Laboratory and all equipment within are clean and properly maintained. Ensure that all samples are stored correctly and clearly.
• Ensure turn round times for analysis of feeds and forages are as quick as possible.
• Ensure daily department operations are carried out to meet Trouw Nutrition Quality Standards and targets to maximise quality, technical safety and legal compliance of all Trouw Nutrition products and services.
• Ensure the laboratories, stock rooms and associated areas and all equipment within are clean and properly maintained. Ensure that all samples are stored correctly and clearly.
• Ensure turn round times for analysis of feeds and premixes for ‘wet’ chemistry techniques and NIR analysis are as quick as possible.

• Extensive experience working in an analytical laboratory, especially with predictive techniques.
• Ability to distinguish different animal forage and feed stuffs.
• Experience in working with ERP system, ideally experience of using LIMS.
• Experience of managing staff.
• Ability to understand and analyse information and identify anomalies.
• Understanding of compliance issues such as Health & Safety and UKAS Accreditation.
• Strong IT skills – Outlook, Excel and Word.

• Ability to work in a high pressure environment and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ability to work systematically.
• Able to work with agricultural samples including silage.

Contract:

Permanent, full‑time (40 hours, Monday–Friday)

25 days of holiday per calendar year based on full‑time working hours, plus 8 UK bank holidays.
