Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results.
  • Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports.
  • Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports to achieve enhanced performance.
  • Understands overarching company strategy and models core values to foster teamwork.
  • Monitors competitive environment and informs the direct leader of necessary adjustments.
  • Provides product feedback, including new item recommendations or discontinuation.
  • Participates in interview process for store personnel.
  • Communicates information including weekly updates, major milestones, developments, and concerns.
  • Ensures staff adhere to inventory, product handling, and cash control procedures.
  • Resolves operational customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence.
  • Identifies and rectifies hazards; maintains ergonomics and equipment.
  • Maintains store cleanliness and proper signage.
  • Assists the direct leader with maintaining stock levels through product ordering.
  • Merchandises product to maximize sales.
  • Ensures quality, freshness of products, and accuracy of signage.
  • Assists with payroll, loss budget, inventory counts, and new employee training.
  • Supervises day‑to‑day operations; escalates issues appropriately.
  • Ensures direct reports complete responsibilities promptly to provide top customer service.
  • Complies with company policies and confidentiality of documents and data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Stock merchandise from receiving to shelving; lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Frequently sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk.
  • Must perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
Job Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to provide and lead customer service.
  • Develop rapport, trust, and open communication with direct reports.
  • Interpret and apply company policies.
  • Set goals, guide employee performance, and ensure quality of work.
  • Evaluate and drive self and others’ performance.
  • Understand budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses.
  • Operate cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Operate equipment (hand jack, floor scrubber, cardboard baler) and maintain cleanliness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Stay organized, multi‑task, and detail‑oriented.
  • Meet state and local alcohol handling requirements.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years progressive retail experience.
  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to knowledge.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
