Delivery Driver
Performance Food Group (PFG) is seeking a Delivery Driver for food and food-service distribution. Shift details:
Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, dispatch times 2:00 AM – 5:00 AM. Average annual salary $85,000 with a daily minimum rate of $240.
Drivers deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers, representing the company. Responsibilities include driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, following DOT regulations, performing safety checks, managing paperwork, and maintaining a safe and timely delivery schedule.
Primary Responsibilities- Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally, ensuring accurate and timely answers to questions.
- Act as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Perform all required safety checks (pre‑ and post‑trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report all safety issues and repairs required.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies; immediately report all safety hazards; inspect trailers for proper loading and securing of freight.
- Perform count checks of items, verify customer invoices, and check loaded products.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined delivery schedule.
- Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage‑control checks on items, scan them, and contact the supervisor regarding removal of orders (per company policy).
- Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures.
- Collect money (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto the trailer and secure doors.
- Ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and securely stored.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring them to driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork; unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Enter daily records of hours of service in the log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
- At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum 6 months commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma/GED or state‑approved equivalent.
- Valid CDL
A. - Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card.
- Ability to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–35 pounds up to 60–90 pounds, depending on location.
