Senior Data Engineer – Contract to Hire

JSG is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a client in Woodland Hills, CA. This role is on‑site and requires local Southern California candidates. The initial employment will be on a W2 with JSG.

Heavy use of Python (90%) and SQL (10%) for data processing, orchestration, and automation is required. Responsibilities include designing, scaling, and optimizing the enterprise data platform, building cloud‑native data pipelines, lakehouse/warehouse architectures, and multi‑system integrations that support Finance, CRM, Operations, Marketing, and guest experience analytics.

• Design, build, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines across Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric Gen 2, Azure Synapse Analytics, and legacy SQL/Oracle platforms.
• Implement medallion/lakehouse architecture, CDC pipelines, and streaming ingestion frameworks.
• Leverage Python and SQL for data processing, orchestration, and automation.
• Manage AWS and Azure multi‑account environments, enforcing MFA, IAM policies, and governance.
• Build serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Event Bridge, SQS, Step Functions) for event‑driven data flows.
• Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, Airflow, dbt) for automated testing and deployments.
• Deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform and Azure Dev Ops for reproducible, version‑controlled environments.
• Implement observability and monitoring frameworks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Azure Monitor) to ensure system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient data solutions.
• Background in Finance or consumer‑facing industries is preferred.

• Senior or mid‑senior level experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Expertise in Python (90% focus) and SQL (10% focus).
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, and AWS or Azure services.
• Strong knowledge of data pipeline architectures, CDC, streaming, and serverless technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform, CI/CD, and monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Salary: $67 – $70 per hour.
