The Head of Health & Safety – Los Angeles is an onsite leadership role responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of health, safety, and environmental performance across Los Angeles–based operations. This role ensures compliance with US federal, California (Cal/OSHA), and local regulatory requirements, while aligning site‑level execution with Res Med’s global HSE strategy. The role works onsite and partners closely with Facilities, Engineering, HR and business leaders to embed safety into workplace design, operations, capital projects and organizational culture, enabling a safe, healthy and resilient work environment for employees, contractors and visitors.

- Develop, implement, and continuously improve Health & Safety Management Systems that are compliant with US federal, California (Cal/OSHA), and local regulations, and aligned with Res Med’s global HSE strategy and business objectives.
- Lead health and safety change programs that strengthen organizational risk resilience through the development of people, systems, processes and culture.
- Establish, monitor, analyze and report leading and lagging health and safety performance indicators to support executive decision-making.
- Own and govern hazard identification, risk assessment and incident reporting and investigation processes.
- Monitor internal operational and infrastructure changes and external regulatory developments (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA).
- Coordinate and manage continuous improvement of health and safety processes across Los Angeles and associated US operations.
- Develop and implement injury management, return-to-work and workers’ compensation strategies.
- Lead employee health, wellbeing and psychological safety initiatives.
- Oversee environmental, waste and sustainability reporting relevant to site operations.
- Partner closely with the Facilities team to support safe building operations, infrastructure changes and workplace projects.
- Partner with Engineering teams to embed health and safety requirements into facility design, equipment selection, process changes and capital projects.
- Ensure contractor compliance with safety training, licensing, GMP and site requirements.
- Manage HSE induction and onboarding processes.
- Review and maintain Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Method Statements.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and manage inspections and audits.
- Lead fire life safety and emergency preparedness activities.
- Provide technical input into business continuity and crisis management planning.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Senior‑level experience in Health & Safety leadership within the US/California.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA requirements.
- Significant senior‑level experience in Health & Safety leadership, including injury management and workers’ compensation within a US and/or California regulatory environment. Preferable more than 10 years.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Health & Safety.
- Professional certification (CSP, CIH, or equivalent).
- Multi‑site leadership experience.
- Experience managing multi‑site and/or geographically dispersed operations and leading onsite teams.
