⭐Want to step in and help young people work toward their dream careers and goals?

We’re seeking a Youth Support Worker to support students aged 11–18 within a secondary school setting
. You’ll work with teachers and pastoral staff to help create a calm, inclusive environment where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

You’ll be working alongside school’s Specialist Resource Base (SRB), which provides tailored support for students with additional learning needs. Learners access elements of mainstream education where appropriate, alongside specialised teaching and wellbeing support. Provision is delivered through person‑centred practice to identify barriers and develop effective strategies.

The SRB supports learners with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, speech, language and communication needs, and physical or medical challenges
. It works closely with the Local Authority ALN Team, Educational Psychology Services, Health and Social Care Professionals, and the Monmouthshire Network of SRBs, creating a highly supportive and collaborative environment. It’s a really nurturing school community to be part of.

Who We’re Looking for?

We welcome applicants who can bring:

  • Relevant experience in youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, or similar roles
  • The ability to support pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) or behavioural needs
  • The ability to stay calm, kind, and approachable in challenging situations
  • An understanding of the emotional and social needs of young people
  • Truly cares about helping children succeed, both emotionally and academically
✅Requirements

Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • At least two professional references covering 24 months
  • Be aged 18 or over
