Overview

An established and profitable SME business near Chepstow are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.

Working alongside the Financial Controller and other team members, this is an excellent opportunity for someone to bring an existing skillset and develop their accounting knowledge further. Applicants will be keen to learn, be adaptable to the changing needs of the business and have a strong sense of ‘team’.

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Manage invoice processing, including matching invoices to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements which includes import duty.
  • Assist in compiling financial data for Management Accounting purposes.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accuracy in all reconciliations.
  • Review and improve processes and systems.
  • Working closely with internal colleagues to resolve accounts queries.
Person specification / Qualifications
  • Proven experience in an accounts/finance role.
  • Excellent academic record being AAT qualified.
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Comfortable in accepting own accountability.
  • Experience in working with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
