Bookkeeper and tax preparer

H&M Food Ltd. is a Calgary-based frozen food manufacturer experiencing steady growth. We are seeking a contract Bookkeeper to support our day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently in a business environment.

• Maintain accurate financial records using Quick Books (or similar accounting software)
• Process vendor invoices, receipts, expense submissions, and payments
• Prepare and issue payroll and paystubs on a scheduled basis
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with Alberta payroll standards
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare AP/AR reports and support payment scheduling
  
  Organize financial documents for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting
• Assist with inventory cost tracking and COGS entries
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status
• Prepare basic financial summaries and cash flow updates for management
• Ensure accurate document filing and adherence to bookkeeping procedures

• 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Experience with payroll processing and issuing paystubs (ADP, Ceridian, Quick Books Payroll or similar)
• Proficiency with Quick Books

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
• Experience with AP/AR and reconciliation tasks
• High attention to detail and strong organization skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Experience in manufacturing or food production is an asset
• Mandarin is required
• Knowledge of Canadian payroll rules (CPP, EI, vacation pay, statutory holidays) is preferred
