Calgary-based engineering services client seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the full financial accounting process. This role ensures all business transactions are recorded in the Sage accounting system, including correct period entry, appropriate accounting treatment, and proper posting to the general ledger. Additional responsibilities include preparing monthly bank reconciliations, completing weekly cash flow reports, submitting fiscal year-end audit documentation, and managing capital asset and prepaid accounting.

Responsibilities
  • Record all monthly transactions in Sage, including vendor invoices, employee expenses, client billings, cash receipts, and required accruals.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all GL, AR, and AP balances agree to supporting subledgers.
  • Prepare month-end working papers, including the trial balance, financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting journal entries.
  • Produce weekly cash flow summaries and forecasts by reviewing banking activity and coordinating with Payroll and Billing teams.
  • Submit cash flow reporting to the Controller and communicate upcoming payment/collection requirements.
  • Prepare year-end audit support, including schedules, documentation, and coordination with internal team members.
  • Maintain and update the capital asset schedule, record amortization, and process asset additions/dispositions.
  • Review vendor invoices for accuracy and correct coding, including identifying capitalizable items.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and vendors to ensure all transactions are captured, billed, recorded, and supported.
  • Support compliance with corporate policies, QMS requirements, safety standards, and mandatory training obligations.
Qualifications
  • Prior work experience with project costing, full cycle accounting including AR, AP, payroll modules, and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience with Sage 300, Beanworks, Intacct, AIMSIO, Fieldglass, and UKG is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • An accounting degree or diploma is required.
