The OpportunityMake your mark while you grow your career! The Royalty Compliance department is seeking a candidate with strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills that enjoys working within a team environment. This role is responsible for managing and ensuring accurate calculation, reporting, and compliance related to Gas Cost Allowance under provincial regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of royalty frameworks, allowable cost structures, and accounting principles.
This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop their critical thinking and gain a broader understanding of Canadian Natural’s business processes.

Calgary, Alberta - Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts

- Prepare, file, review, and analyze allowable cost submissions in accordance with regulatory guidelines to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with provincial royalty regulations and company policies
- Collaborate with internal teams (Royalty, Operations, Finance) to validate data and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate documentation and support audits as required
- Prepare journal entries for monthly invoices and accruals
- Accurately analyze and report data for Month End / Quarter End reporting packages
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices for efficiency and accuracy
- Complete other projects as assigned
The Role
- 7 plus years of related industry experience with an Accounting or Business Degree, and/or Production Accounting background with exposure to Royalty and/or GCA processes
- Strong understanding of royalty frameworks and/or gas cost allowance regulations
- An accounting designation (CA, CPA/CMA, CGA) would be considered an asset
- Expertise expected:
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems; experience with royalty software is an asset
- Ability to meet key deliverable deadlines within a short time frame
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with:
- Working knowledge of Petrinex, DAS, Accumap, AFE Navigator, QBLM, PAS and industry used GCA software applications is a definite asset
