Senior Accountant, Oil & Gas

Our client, a growing upstream oil and gas company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Calgary team alongside a phenomenal leader! This role offers broad exposure across operational accounting functions supporting Canadian oil and gas assets, while also assisting with bringing a small U.S. entity in-house from an outsourced provider.

This is a hands‑on opportunity within a lean and collaborative environment where the successful candidate will work closely with leadership and gain visibility across operations, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

• Manage full‑cycle operational accounting for operated and non‑operated oil and gas assets
• Support CAPEX, OPEX, G&A, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, GST filings, and JIB accounting
• Prepare and process royalty payments and foreign exchange calculations
• Support month‑end close and operational reporting activities
• Assist with process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and strengthening accounting controls
• Coordinate with outsourced providers and support transition activities for a small U.S. entity

• 5+ years of accounting experience within upstream oil and gas
• Strong operational accounting experience including JIBs, AP/AR, and reconciliations
• Experience with operated and non‑operated assets is required
• CPA designation considered an asset but not required
• Comfortable working in a lean, fast‑paced environment with broad responsibilities
