Overview

The growing team at Moodys Private Client LLP seeks to add a Canadian Tax Associate to its accounting team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Moodys Private Client is a firm that provides accounting, tax and legal services primarily to clients in Canada and the US ranging in size from small owner-manager enterprises to large, privately held organizations, as well as individuals, trusts and partnerships.

The candidate will work with a team of accountants, lawyers and tax professionals. A confident individual that is looking to work alongside some of Canada’s top tax professionals that can demonstrate initiative, and motivation is key for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex tax returns (such as complex T1, T2, T3 and T5013 returns), elections and other regulatory filings (such as Form T2054, T2057, T1134 and Form T106).
  • Prepare tax-centric compilation engagements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on complex tax matters and prepare explicit and well-written memos.
  • Write and present on trending tax topics internally.
  • Liaise directly with tax authorities to advocate client positions and resolve assessments.
  • Work alongside the US tax team on cross-border tax issues.
  • Implement creative tax planning strategies for a diverse client base.
Qualifications and Skills
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major.
  • 2+ years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry.
  • Possess a Canadian CPA designation (or close to completing).
  • A robust willingness to learn and collaborate with other professionals.
  • Enrollment of CPA In-Depth Tax Program (or plan to enroll in the near future).
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and able to manage several priorities at one time.
  • A team player willing to foster a learning workplace.
