REPORTING TO: Controller Accounting Operations

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the General Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting functions of RME by handling general accounting that does not fall under the scope of the Whole Goods accounting team, the A/R team or the A/P team. This includes, but is not limited to; bank reconciliations, commission reconciliations, maintaining capital asset listings, and handling prepaid expense accounting.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Performs bank reconciliations.
- Responsible for accounting related to capital assets, prepaid expenses, and bank charges.
- Reconcile or review GL accounts as required.
- Aid in the development, improvement, implementation, and design of policies and procedures.
- CSOX – support the development and maintenance as required.
- Investigates and resolves financial results queries for internal customers (in particular related to capital assets, prepaid expenses).
- Support audit requirements – internal and external.
- Performs other duties as required to support Accounting Department and the Accounting Manager. This can include; assisting Whole Goods accounting team at month ends, assisting with the accounting of parts inventory counts, and performing parts accrual account analysis.
- Other duties to assist the accounting department as needed.
- A post‑secondary degree/diploma in accounting or a related discipline.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and standards.
- Working knowledge of CDK AP vouchers, AR account lookups, PO’s, Sub ledgers, GL’s.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and understand IFRS accounting standards
- Ability to work in an open team environment
