Senior Operations Accountant

Tourmaline Oil Corp. ("Tourmaline") is Canada’s largest natural gas producer focused on long‑term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for a Senior Operations Accountant to join our Calgary office.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, manage and coordinate the month‑end accounting process for operational reporting, including coordination of month‑end timelines and accruals for operating expenses, gathering and processing fees, property taxes, and administration fees.
  • Liaise with other accounting groups to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal departments by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting operational and financial data.
  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation and training materials.
  • Coordinate and review departmental reports and accounting vouchers.
  • Prepare operating expense adjusting journal entries as required.
  • Prepare and analyze annual reserves reporting.
  • Support corporate acquisition and disposition accounting activities as required.
  • Perform ad‑hoc analysis, reporting and special projects as required.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Act as backup to the Supervisor, Operations Accounting, as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of oil and gas accounting experience is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365 and Open Invoice considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and support day‑to‑day work activities.
