Pay & Time Analyst - Payroll Services
The Pay & Time Analyst reports to the Supervisor, Payroll Services and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and readiness of time and pay data for payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities- Review and validate employee time entries and pay inputs to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to payroll processing.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to time, pay, retro activity, and leave impacts.
- Perform time audits and reconciliations for the US and Canada.
- Support payroll readiness by ensuring time data is submitted, approved, and accurately reflected in Workday.
- Process payroll cycles including Canadian weekly, semi-monthly, and quarterly board of director payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality.
- Process ad‑hoc off‑cycle payrolls.
- Partner with Payroll, HR, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure alignment with policy and legislative requirements.
- Perform analysis to support payroll validation, variance identification, and audit readiness.
- Act as an escalation point for time and pay inquiries, providing guidance to employees and HR Services.
- Maintain and enhance process documentation, controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in system testing, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and internal SOX control requirements.
- 4+ years of experience in payroll and time administration.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll practices, including overtime, leaves, and CRA requirements.
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (Workday and SAP preferred).
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required; PLP considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage complex scenarios.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain time and pay concepts clearly.
- Experience with payroll integrations and end‑to‑end data flows.
- Exposure to SOX controls and audit processes.
- Experience supporting system implementations, testing, or enhancements.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
- Experience with US payroll is considered an asset.
