Overview
We are seeking a Senior Crown Royalty Analyst to support royalty audit and compliance activities within a regulatory and audit-focused environment. This is a 12-month contract based in Calgary, focused on oil sands royalty audit support, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder coordination. The role involves managing audit requests, preparing audit responses, supporting dispute resolution, and ensuring compliance with royalty regulations and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
o Support execution of royalty audit requests related to End of Period Statements (EOPS)
o Interpret and apply royalty regulations and industry guidance to audit activities
o Prepare, review, and coordinate audit responses and amendment submissions
o Support audit dispute resolution through documentation and detailed analysis
o Analyze audit findings to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities
o Prepare audit summaries and reporting materials for leadership teams
o Partner with internal stakeholders across Accounting, Legal, Engineering, and Marketing
o Act as a liaison with regulatory auditors and support audit coordination activities
o Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Must-Have Requirements
o 10+ years of accounting or royalty analysis experience
o Strong experience with oil sands royalty regulations and compliance
o Experience supporting audits, regulatory reporting, and dispute resolution
o Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
o Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP
o Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-Have
o CPA designation
o
Experience with JDE systems
o Exposure to crude oil marketing or related operations
o Experience preparing executive-level audit reporting

o Adaptable and proactive mindset
o Ability to communicate complex information clearly to various audiences
Education
o Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field (or equivalent experience)
