Petro China Canada (PCC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Petro China Company Limited, which is partially owned by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), a state‑owned enterprise. CNPC is China’s largest oil company and the world’s third largest, operating 91 energy‑related projects in over 35 countries and regions. PCC has invested billions of dollars in an asset‑rich portfolio of upstream, midstream and downstream operations, including the Mac Kay River and Dover oil sands projects, the Duvernay Shale gas operation, a 50 % interest in the Grand Rapids Pipeline, and joint‑venture interests in the Groundbirch tight gas project and LNG Canada.

Petro China Canada is recruiting for a Production, Revenue, Royalty Accountant to join the Finance Team in Calgary.

Reporting to the Lead, Production, Revenue and Royalty Accounting, the Production, Revenue, Royalty Accountant (PRRA) will be an integral member of both the finance department and the respective asset team, and will be accountable for the full‑cycle production, revenue and royalty accounting for the Simonette facility and wells.

Accountabilities
  • Work closely with Operations, Production, Regulatory, and Measurement to review, understand, and address any impacts of relevant physical or regulatory changes and reporting configurations.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Marketing to ensure proper accounting for commodity transactions and transportation agreements.
  • Maintain property setup in the Production Accounting (PAS) system and new well setups as required.
  • Ensure data validation for all volumetric data and source system data – e.g., SCADA volumes, analysis, FFV, truck tickets, 3rd‑party data sources, etc.
  • Perform full‑cycle production accounting: prepare oil, NGL, and gas splits; volumetric, SAF/OAF; revenue, facility charges and revenue calculations.
  • Ensure all government reporting and Petrinex reporting requirements have been adhered to.
  • Collaborate with field to meet government compliance requirements on monthly Compliance Assessment Indicators (CAI), EPAP, and participate in annual EPAP reviews.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and assess results.
  • Respond to queries – e.g., 3rd‑party custom user queries, government queries, audit queries, etc.
  • Ensure monthly accruals are completed on time and accurately for revenue, transportation and royalties.
  • Provide strong support and involvement in the annual external financial audit process.
  • Complete the annual GCA submission based on the accounting year.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the finance team by proactively identifying and sharing process improvement opportunities.
  • Display a strong understanding of, and proven track record in applying, key components of Directive 17.
  • Maintain working expertise with Petrinex and Petrotranz, including meeting all requirements for submitting and extracting information.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate business degree with an accounting focus.
  • CAPPA certification required.
  • 10+ years of gas plant production accounting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Alberta regulatory reporting and royalty requirements.
  • Strong analytical, account reconciliation, problem‑solving, organizational, and Excel skills.
  • Understanding of the EPAP process and themes, with a proven track record of successfully addressing the production accounting related themes.
  • Experience with PAS is a requirement.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.
