Manager, Foundation Accounting ut the role Benevity is seeking a highly experienced Manager of Foundation Accounting to join our Foundation Accounting and Reconciliation team. This critical role involves overseeing the preparation and accuracy of financial statements for our Foundation partners across the globe, ensuring compliance with local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will work closely with multiple internal teams, including Financial Operations, Tax, and Financial Systems, to streamline processes, enhance internal controls, and support the organization's mission.

As a leader within the team, you will be responsible for managing complex financial reporting projects, mentoring team members, and maintaining strong relationships with external auditors. Foundation Accounting and Reconciliation

What you’ll do
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for our Foundation partners, ensuring all reports are accurate, complete, and compliant with local GAAP standards.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensuring the integrity of financial data.
  • Manage and improve internal controls related to general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all Foundation entities.
  • Conduct detailed budget versus actual analyses, providing insights into donation trends, fund allocations, and financial performance across multiple entities.
  • Develop and present financial reports and dashboards that support decision-making at the Foundation trustee board meetings and other key stakeholder presentations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for external auditors during annual audits, coordinating audit schedules, providing necessary documentation, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Financial Operations, Financial Systems, Tax, and Operations to identify opportunities for workflow automation and process improvements related to ERP systems and donation processing.
  • Lead special projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of foundation financial reporting, including system upgrades, process automation, and policy updates.
  • Mentor, coach, and support the professional development of accounting team members, fostering a high-performance environment aligned with Benevity’s core values.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards, including ASNPO and US GAAP, and stay informed about changes that could impact financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements related to financial reporting, including any applicable ITAR regulations.
  • Support the organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by fostering an inclusive team environment and promoting equitable practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members and other stakeholders on financial processes, reporting standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior management and external partners as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required financial reports to Foundation partners and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience leading and mentoring high-performing accounting teams, preferably within nonprofit or foundation environments.
  • Active CPA designation in good standing, with a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
