Petro China International Canada Trading (“PCIC” or the “Company”) is part of the Petro China family. Based in China. Petro China is one of the world’s largest integrated global oil and gas companies. PCIC, based in Calgary, engages in crude oil and natural gas trading and marketing activities in Canada and elsewhere in North America, in coordination with its parent company Petro China International (America) Inc.,
based in Houston, Texas.
Based in Calgary, the Contract Accountant reports to the Operational Accounting Manager. The position will maintain the commodity settlement function of Petro China International (Canada) Trading as well as work closely with the commercial, contracts, and risk team on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:The Contract Accountant is responsible for the production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information prepared in compliance with Petro China’s global and local policies. This role will:
- Reconcile and balance crude and natural gas pipeline/cargo activity to internal records;
- Prepare and send invoice statements to counter parties and confirm payables and receivables for crude oil and products trading, tariff and storage charges;
- Review and approve secondary cost invoices;
- Identify discrepancies and work with all related parties for resolution;
- Maintain and reconcile inventory and weighted average cost calculations;
- Prepare and provide monthly settlement forecast to the treasury function;
- Prepare and record accruals and actual journal entries with a high level of accuracy.
- Assist with month end revenue and financial reporting requirements;
- Prepare and reconcile general ledger account balances for accuracy;
- Maintain the Huiqian and contract approval process in Pioneer;
- Assist with weekly cash forecasts, and internal/external audit preparation.
- Other projects and ad hoc requests, as directed.
- Accounting or related Bachelor’s degree, and/or in the progress or pursuing a CPA designation
- Minimum 2 years of Accounting or related experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions
- Organized with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
