Are you an analytical and detail-oriented accounting professional looking to build your career in production accounting? Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Production Accountant in the oil and gas industry in a hybrid work environment in Calgary, Alberta. We are seeking a Production Accountant to join a dynamic finance team supporting a diverse portfolio of energy assets and facilities.

This role offers exposure to production accounting, midstream operations, customer invoicing, and operational finance while working alongside experienced industry professionals.

Total rewards:$35.00 - $45.00 hourly

Contract Length: 9 Months

Work Arrangement:
Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Hands-on experience with various finance and operational applications

A typical day
  • Perform full-cycle production accounting for assigned facilities with varying levels of complexity
  • Verify and reconcile terminal receipts, dispositions, and production volumes
  • Balance facility production and identify discrepancies requiring investigation
  • Analyze production data, including metering variances, shrinkage, gas analysis, and liquid recoveries
  • Manage customer and marketing allocations and splits (APMC)
  • Prepare accurate customer invoices and validate contract terms related to assigned properties
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to resolve accounting and operational inquiries
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Successful candidates will have
  • 1-3 years of production accounting experience or related oil and gas accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Strong understanding of production accounting processes and industry deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • CAPPA (Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting) certification or progress toward certification
    -would be preferred
  • Familiarity with Petrotranz, JDE FFVM, Power BI, or similar industry applications would be an asset
