- Accurately and efficiently input and verify mineral land data in the land system to support the acquisition and disposition of Crown and Freehold leases, including the issuance of leases under Canadian Natural-owned titles.
- Manage and track area specific obligations within the land system, ensuring compliance and follow-through on day-to-day administrative requirements.
- Conduct thorough reviews of acquisition files, meeting critical deadlines and ensuring data accuracy.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams (Exploration, Operations, Accounting) and external stakeholders such as industry partners and provincial regulatory bodies.
- Provide timely and effective responses to accounting and audit inquiries, ensuring clear communication and resolution.
- Contribute to special projects as needed, offering administrative and analytical support to Area Negotiators and other team initiatives.
The Role
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in Mineral Land Administration, supported by a Petroleum Land Administration Certificate or relevant post-secondary education.
- Strong working knowledge of key regulatory and administrative processes, including Alberta Crown regulations and processes (ETS, continuations, surrenders, offsets, etc.), Alberta Land Titles systems (SPIN II), including title searches, caveat registrations and withdrawals, and freehold lease administration, including a solid understanding of lease terms and obligations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and land systems; preference will be given to candidates with experience in QBLM.
- Highly organized and adaptable, with excellent time management, interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Practical experience with Alberta Crown leases/licenses and various Freehold lease formats, lease assignments, estate file handling, and caveat management, and understanding of Title, Headlease, and Sublease relationships.
