PROFILE

Gowling WLG’s Calgary Office is currently seeking a Corporate Clerk for our Business Law Corporate Services group with eight to ten years of law clerk experience.

The successful candidate will support a key national project with the digitization of our corporate services process. The corporate clerk will help with data integrity for the corporate records for various clients. This individual will have the exciting opportunity to work alongside a great team of corporate clerks and lawyers in a challenging professional services environment.

We can be flexible with hours and days in the office. Overtime and work outside of the standard hours will not be necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Independently complete a minute book review of various entity types (corporation, not‑for‑profit, LLPs) in electronic format;
  • Identify corporate data issues to ensure that the minute book and other corporate records are complete in the electronic database;
  • Exercise discretion and judgement when reviewing and organizing documents and materials within iManage and Athennian;
  • Ensure the currency and integrity of the corporate materials saved in iManage, Closing Folders and Athennian.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of eight to ten years legal experience as a Corporate Law Clerk/Paralegal in the Province of Alberta;
  • Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work proactively and independently, as well as in a team environment, including training junior clerks and new team members;
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to redefine priorities when necessary;
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with technology;
  • Curiosity of corporate law and ability and willingness to continuously learn and develop new skills;
  • Strong time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, proven effectiveness in delivering fast and accurate client service;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Firm members, verbally and in writing, in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, iManage and Nuance PDF or Adobe Acrobat;
  • Experience with Athennian or similar corporate database, such as EnAct, Global Enact or Alf, is an asset.
