Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Database Assistant. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Principal Investigator.

Work may be repetitive at times.

Work hours may vary when required to reach changing deadlines, workloads and priorities in a dynamic research environment.

Recurring Part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.

Summary of

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain optimal data recording practices
  • Data processing, data capturing and data entry into an established computer database
  • Flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines and cope with the dynamic nature of clinical research are key
  • Able to prioritize tasks to comply with research protocol needs
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Data entry and filing
  • Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored are maintained
  • Assist a team of Investigators and other researchers by providing database support
  • Administrative duties including; organizing and filing of confidential study records
  • Other administrative duties as required
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree would be an asset
  • One year of related experience
  • Demonstrated skills in data entry
  • Experience working in a health care setting an asset
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and medical records
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office suite especially Excel spreadsheets, email and internet programs
  • Strong and effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Cooperative and dependable
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Will be required to work flexible hours
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team are critical to success.
