As Senior Innovation Manager, you will manage demanding University of Calgary technology portfolios with autonomy. You will negotiate with licensees, support leadership, mentor colleagues, and help plan Life & Medical Sciences activities. The position focuses on translating research into societal and economic impact.
Key Responsibilities:- Identify inventions through grants, seminars, events, and faculty relationships
- Assess patentability, market potential, and commercial potential
- Develop commercialization, marketing, and intellectual property strategies
- Negotiate license and equity agreements with partners
- Mentor colleagues and support Technology Transfer Office leadership
- MSc or Ph.D. in a Life Sciences discipline
- Three years’ technology transfer or commercialization experience
- Experience negotiating and closing large-scale licensing deals
- Familiarity with Canadian and United States patent law
- Excellent negotiation, project management, and technology marketing skills
