Waterproofing Superintendent

Salary Range: $90,000 to $115,000
A leading commercial contractor in Calgary is seeking a Waterproofing Superintendent to oversee building envelope and below-grade waterproofing scopes on a variety of commercial and multi-residential projects. This position is ideal for a field-driven leader with strong technical knowledge and a focus on quality, safety, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate several waterproofing crews across active job sites, ensuring work is sequenced efficiently and completed on time.
Monitor installation to confirm all work meets project drawings, specifications, quality expectations, and budget targets.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, including binders with purchase orders, specifications, drawings, and related records.
Maintain proactive communication with the on-site General Contractor and other trades to avoid conflicts and resolve issues quickly.
Oversee daily field activities, manage site priorities, and support crews with technical direction and problem solving.
Conduct regular site inspections focused on the waterproofing scope, including weekly reviews and daily checks as required.
Participate in pre-construction, coordination, and production meetings to plan upcoming work and resource needs.
Attend pre-start and final inspection walkthroughs with clients and consultants, addressing any deficiencies tied to the waterproofing scope.
Promote and enforce all site safety procedures and ensure adherence to company and regulatory safety standards.
Qualifications
Solid understanding of building envelope details, interfaces, and general construction practices related to waterproofing systems.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings; familiarity with construction estimating, take-offs, and quality control processes.
Preferably a minimum of 5 years in a similar supervisory or superintendent role; project management experience in construction is considered an asset.
Proven background in commercial construction environments, ideally with exposure to complex envelope and foundation systems.
High level of computer literacy, including document formatting and managing project files and reports.
Physically able to climb ladders frequently and work comfortably at heights.
Clear, confident communicator with strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and direct crews.
Demonstrated ability to work under tight timelines, manage multiple priorities, and allocate labour and materials effectively.
Safety certifications such as Fall Protection, CSTS, Confined Space, and First Aid are preferred; training may be provided for the successful candidate as part of employment.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation for travel between project locations in the Calgary area.
