Adecco, in partnership with our client, a Top Real Estate Developer, is currently hiring a full-time Senior Estimator to join their project management team in Calgary, AB. You will play a key role in supporting project planning and cost management by developing precise estimates and cost breakdowns for a variety of construction projects, with a focus on commercial facilities. This position works collaboratively with internal teams, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure all bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.

The role involves detailed take-offs, value engineering, market research, site assessments, and active participation in pre-construction processes.
  • Pay Rate: $130,000 - $150,000/year (based on experience)

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate and complete cost estimates for recreational, commercial, and residential projects, including materials, labor, and timelines.
  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, architects, and engineers to prepare comprehensive bid submissions.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and develop cost breakdowns.
  • Perform site visits to gather essential data and assess project conditions.
  • Identify cost risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support value-engineering initiatives by recommending cost-effective alternatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, construction methods, and market trends.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Present estimates and bid proposals to senior leadership for approval.
  • Assist with post-bid clarifications, revisions, and negotiations when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years focused on recreational facility projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Plan Swift, or similar tools).
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience estimating large-scale recreational projects (sports complexes, community centres, aquatic facilities).
  • Knowledge of permitting processes, municipal regulations, and standards in Calgary.
  • Professional certifications such as CEC or PQS are considered assets.
  • Familiarity with LEED or other sustainability-focused building standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, and code requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed take-offs and produce costing sheets.
  • Capable of preparing conceptual estimates from early-stage drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, products, and industry best practices
  • Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
