You As An Estimator Will

Support a team through the completion of a bid process for building projects.

Assemble accurate, wholesome, timely, and well-organized estimates, including lump sum, unit rate, construction management, and design-build pursuits.

Work on multiple bids simultaneously, when required, and maintain the integrity of the bid by balancing the workload.

Organize and “bid level” sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting Project Managers in the buy-out process.

Be responsible for completing project-specific general accounts for various project types and complexities.

Be responsible for pricing out various projects based on previous historical rates and productivity.

Focus on building relationships with subcontractors and owners for future opportunities.

Distribute subcontractor quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern, and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price.

Maintain historical databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference.

Update and refine estimates as new drawing packages, addenda, or design revisions are issued.

Identify, track, and analyze design changes during the development phase, assessing their cost impact and communicating risks/opportunities to the team.

Provide value engineering and alternative solutions to help optimize constructability, reduce costs, and align with client budget constraints, while maintaining the design intent and overall project vision.

Is this the right role for you?

You have a construction-related degree/diploma and a minimum of 8 years of experience in ICI (Industrial, Commercial and Institutional) estimating or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

Strong proficiency in estimating and digital tools, including On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Excel, Sketch Up, or CostX, with the ability to adapt quickly to new software platforms.

You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.

Estimating experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts is essential.

You have experience in completing own forces estimates including but not limited to selective demolition, rough carpentry and concrete and formwork.

You work well in a team environment with strong personal values that align with Ellis Don's core values.

You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team by displaying strong communication skills .

Be comfortable working autonomously, while providing updates when needed, and following Ellis Don procedures at all times.
