You as a Concrete and Formwork Estimator will:

  • Lead and prepare detailed concrete and formwork estimates.
  • Contribute to and support in the development of project specific execution plans (schedule, sequencing, formwork selection, pour breaks, crew sizes and composition, equipment, site logistics, etc.).
  • Run detailed workforce analyses to determine productivity rates, crew sizes, crew composition, etc.
  • Review various formwork and tower crane designs.
  • Calculate material price lists, labor costs per manhour, productivities rates, equipment rental costs, placing rates, etc.
  • Obtain scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Research historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
  • Maintain working documents to back-up estimating figures.
  • Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.
  • Assist in pricing change orders for projects currently being built.
  • Assist in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data.
  • Contribute technical expertise, support your team in developing estimates, and provide input on constructability, productivity, and cost-saving opportunities.

  • 5 to 10 years of overall construction experience in ICI projects with a General Contractor, specializing in Concrete & Formwork (Form, Place and Finish including Supply).
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing required.
  • Knowledge of formwork systems, formwork sequencing, placing equipment, access equipment, productivities rates, crew compositions, labor rates and union agreements.
  • Knowledge of various contract delivery models including risk analysis.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, sub-quotes, supplier quotes etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to create and maintain strong relationships, strong communication skills, and attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time sensitive situations within a team.
  • Proficient competency with Excel, OST, and other software used.
