Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, concrete, and related civil works
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine scope and requirements
Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for materials, labour, and equipment
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
Identify project risks and opportunities and incorporate them into estimates
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
Assist in bid submissions and proposal preparation
Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost data
Qualifications
2 to 10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on paving and concrete
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Experience working on municipal or provincial infrastructure projects
Familiarity with local Calgary and Alberta construction standards and regulations

Additional Requirements
Minimum 4 years onsite construction experience
Minimum 3+ years of continuous superintendent or supervisory role experience (in construction field)
Strong working knowledge of current construction methods, drawings, specifications and building codes
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employment and other designated information
Self‑motivated, creative thinking, organized, and efficiency
Excellent good oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities and priorities
Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and team building skills
Level 1 (minimum) First Aid certification and knowledge of WHMIS systems
Budgeting and estimating skills (computer word processing and spreadsheet programs an asset)
Proficient with computers, multifunctional processing units, telephones and faxes
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and skills in data entry
Valid driver's license
