Underground Construction Technician

Join Valard Construction's Distribution team in Calgary as an Underground Construction Technician. This hands-on position focuses on underground cable installation and supports the Calgary Green Line LRT project.

In this physically demanding role, you will work under the Foreman's guidance to install electrical infrastructure. Key tasks include operating construction equipment and performing excavation, while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Your ability to read construction drawings will be essential for accurate task execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Erect temporary support structures and pour concrete for retaining walls

• Dig trenches and reinforce them with concrete as needed

• Operate mini excavators and backhoes during installation

• Maintain organized and safe job sites through daily cleaning

• Complete necessary documentation like timesheets and inspections

Requirements:

• Experience in underground construction or civil infrastructure

• Valid Class 5 driver's license with good abstract

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors

• Flexible schedule availability per project needs

• Ground Disturbance and CSTS certifications preferred
