We are seeking a detail-oriented Heavy Civil Estimator with 2 to 10 years of experience in shallow and deep underground utilities to join the growing team in Calgary.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, concrete, and related civil works
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine scope and requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for materials, labour, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identify project risks and opportunities and incorporate them into estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
- Assist in bid submissions and proposal preparation
- Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost data
- 2 to 10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on paving and concrete
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Experience working on municipal or provincial infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with local Calgary and Alberta construction standards and regulations

- Minimum 4 years onsite construction experience
- Minimum 3+ years of continuous superintendent or supervisory role experience (in construction field)
- Strong working knowledge of current construction methods, drawings, specifications and building codes
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employment and other designated information
- Self‑motivated, creative thinking, organized, and efficiency
- Excellent good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities and priorities
- Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and team building skills
- Level 1 (minimum) First Aid certification and knowledge of WHMIS systems
- Budgeting and estimating skills (computer word processing and spreadsheet programs an asset)
- Proficient with computers, multifunctional processing units, telephones and faxes
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and skills in data entry
- Valid driver's license
