ResponsibilitiesThe Heavy Equipment Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. The operator will safely operate a variety of heavy equipment to perform earthworks, excavation, and related construction tasks according to project plans and site conditions.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and monitor equipment performance;
- Report mechanical or safety issues in a timely manner;
- Coordinate equipment use with site supervisors and crew members to align with project schedules;
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to company safety policies;
- Adapt to changing jobsite conditions and priorities while complying with regulatory requirements.
- Strong equipment operation skills with experience operating heavy equipment in construction or earthworks environments;
- Experience with excavation and working with used equipment, including understanding site plans, grades, and safe digging practices;
- Equipment maintenance skills, including performing basic inspections, routine servicing, and identifying potential mechanical issues;
- Valid equipment operator certifications and/or licenses appropriate to heavy machinery used on site;
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and a demonstrated commitment to safe work practices;
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings, instructions, and grading requirements;
- Reliable transportation to the Calgary, AB worksite and willingness to work varying shifts and overtime as project demands require;
- Previous experience in civil construction, earthworks, or related heavy equipment roles is an asset.
