Position: Construction Site Supervisor (Night Shift) – Electrical & SMP  (Rotational Contract role)

We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to oversee night shift operations on a mineral processing plant construction project in Northern BC, with a strong background in Electrical and SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) construction activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating field execution, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, supervising subcontractors and crews, and delivering work in accordance with project schedules and client expectations.

This is a rotational site-based role requiring strong leadership, planning, and communication skills in remote and heavy industrial environments. The contract will be for approximately 6 months, subject to extension.

The Role
  • Supervise and coordinate all night shift construction activities related to:
    • Electrical installations and commissioning support
    • Structural steel erection
    • Mechanical equipment installation
    • Piping and associated SMP works
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and procedures.
  • Lead and enforce site safety standards, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Monitor workforce productivity, progress, and quality of work during night shift operations.
  • Coordinate with project management, planners, QA/QC personnel, and other discipline supervisors to maintain schedule and resolve field issues.
  • Review drawings, work packs, ITPs, and construction schedules prior to execution.
  • Manage subcontractors and direct hire crews on site.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks and field conflicts.
  • Ensure proper reporting of daily progress, incidents, delays, and shift handovers.
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities as required.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping and environmental compliance across work areas.
About You
  • Trade qualified with 10-15 years in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects, with 5+ years of construction supervision experience
  • Experience on the following types of projects is highly desirable:
    • Mineral processing plants
    • Mine infrastructure projects
    • Concentrators
    • Crushing and conveying systems
    • Industrial plant construction and expansions
  • Demonstrated experience supervising Electrical construction activities and/or SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) installations
  • Proven experience working on remote site projects and rotational assignments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, sequencing, and site coordination.
  • Ability to lead multicultural work forces and manage multiple subcontractors.
  • Experience with shutdowns, brownfield, and greenfield projects is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule performance
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and construction documentation
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Permit-to-work systems
    • Lockout/tagout (LOTO)
    • Risk assessments and JSAs
    • Quality and inspection requirements
Required Certifications
  • Valid safety certifications relevant to industrial construction and mining projects, such as:
    • OSHA / OHSA / CSO equivalent
    • WHMIS
    • Working at Heights
    • Confined Space
    • First Aid / CPR
    • Fall Protection
    • Supervisory Safety Training
  • Additional mining safety certifications are considered an asset.
