You are an established Health & Safety Lead/Manager with experience in the pipeline industry.

You will play a key role in the execution and implementation of a diverse range of health and safety programs and can expect to work on challenging pipeline projects with diverse and collaborative teams to meet and exceed Ledcor’s safety standards.

This position is site-based and the specific rotation schedule and project location will be determined based on project requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions with employees, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Build trust and credibility through ethical decision-making, professionalism, and consistent application of HS&E standards and expectations.
  • Provide guidance to project leadership regarding HS&E risks, critical controls, and emerging safety concerns.
  • Advise operations regarding Ledcor’s Health and Safety Management System, based on a solid understanding of program execution throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and professional development support to HS&E Advisors and Coordinators.
  • Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements
  • Assists front line supervision with the implementation of safe work procedures, hazard assessments to guide the safe execution of the work.
  • Being a champion of the leading indicator program and monitoring compliance.
  • Lead or facilitate significant incident investigations and ensure root causes, corrective actions, and lessons learned are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding.
  • Support the coordination, organization and delivery of project toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Audit the quality of the field level hazard assessments and incident investigation reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with the implementation of occupational hygiene practices and have awareness of medical screening programs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project emergency response plans and project specific safety plans.
  • Lead emergency response exercises, drills, and after-action reviews to validate preparedness and drive continual improvement.
  • Conduct inspections of the work area and meet with field supervisors to discuss any improvement opportunities.
  • Help to ensure the adequate supply of safety equipment, such as protective equipment, fire extinguishers, respirators, etc.
  • Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the overall implementation of project HS&E plans
  • Develop and present HS&E performance reports, trend analyses, and improvement strategies to project and senior leadership teams.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of related work experience within the pipeline industry
  • Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation
  • Has developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Pipeline Construction and/or Pipeline Maintenance Industries – experience on mountainous pipeline projects considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers
  • Ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation
  • Capable of adapting information/style to the audience, explaining difficult information clearly, influencing, and persuading others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations
  • A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer competency including experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and driver’s abstract
