Key Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to dig trenches for water and sewer pipelines, ensuring precise alignment and depth
  • Lead a team of excavator operators and laborers, coordinating daily activities and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
  • Conduct pre-operation checks on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Read and interpret blueprints and project plans to ensure accurate and efficient excavation processes
  • Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with safety regulations and best practices among team members
  • Assist with the installation and back filling of pipelines as needed, ensuring proper compaction and restoration of the work site
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project objectives are met
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating excavators, specifically for water and sewer projects
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing a team on excavation projects
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations regarding excavation and heavy equipment operation
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
  • Valid Heavy Equipment Operator License and other relevant certifications are preferred
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor when necessary and work in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required to meet project deadlines
