This is a senior execution-focused position responsible for overseeing a multidisciplinary project through construction, commissioning, operational handover, and closeout
. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, construction contractors, project controls, operations, maintenance, and other project stakeholders.
The position will involve a combination of work from Saskatoon and travel to a remote northern Saskatchewan site. Candidates should be based in or around Saskatoon and comfortable with regular fly-in/fly-out site assignments.
Responsibilities- Lead project execution across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Manage project budget, schedule, planning, safety, quality, risk, and contract performance.
- Coordinate multiple contractors, suppliers, engineering disciplines, and site stakeholders.
- Develop and manage construction and commissioning plans and schedules.
- Monitor contractor progress against baseline schedules and identify mitigation strategies for schedule impacts.
- Oversee project cost management, forecasting, change management, and progress reporting.
- Review and manage RFIs, material requirements, contractor deliverables, and project documentation.
- Review contractor schedules, resource plans, progress curves, and execution strategies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities involving civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and supporting infrastructure.
- Lead commissioning planning, risk reviews, system turnover, and handover to operations and maintenance.
- Oversee punch-list completion and operational readiness activities.
- Review contracts and change orders and support claims management when required.
- Lead project meetings and prepare weekly and monthly project reports and presentations.
- Maintain project risk registers and identify opportunities to reduce cost, schedule, and execution risk.
- Promote a strong safety culture and participate in site safety reviews, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Support final project turnover, documentation, and closeout.
The successful candidate will divide their time between Saskatoon and the project site in Northern Saskatchewan
. Significant site presence will be required during construction and commissioning.
The current site construction schedule is approximately two weeks in / one week out
, although the schedule may change depending on project requirements.
Site accommodations and transportation from designated Saskatchewan travel hubs are provided.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior project professional who enjoys being directly involved in project execution and wants to lead a complex industrial project through construction, commissioning, and successful operational handover.
- Minimum 15 years of project management experience within industrial projects.
- Extensive experience managing construction and commissioning of industrial projects.
- Demonstrated experience taking projects through execution, commissioning, handover, and closeout.
- Strong contractor and multidisciplinary project-team management experience.
- Experience managing project schedules, costs, risks, change orders, contracts, and project reporting.
- Strong understanding of industrial construction practices and project execution.
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and best practices applicable to mining and milling environments is considered an asset.
- Previous mining, mineral processing, uranium, heavy industrial, oil & gas, chemical, or process plant experience is highly valued.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder-management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability and willingness to regularly travel to a remote northern Saskatchewan site.
