Join Canada's National Observer as a General Assignment Reporter focusing on Alberta’s political and climate landscape. Engage in on-the-ground reporting that truly makes a difference.
This role requires you to cover significant topics such as the Alberta Legislature, environmental policies, and the impact of climate change on communities. Reporting 2-3 stories weekly, you will connect with people and document events that resonate with the public while adhering to ethical journalism standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Report multiple engaging stories each week
• Accurately cover breaking news and climate-related issues
• Build and maintain contacts at the provincial level
• Travel within Alberta for on-site reporting
• Innovate storytelling techniques for online platforms
Requirements:
• Excellent English-language reporting skills
• Three-plus years of relevant reporting experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong passion for climate journalism
• Familiarity with investigative tools such as FOI requests
Share impactful stories that highlight the challenges Alberta faces regarding climate change and governance.
